Well, not quite; but In common with many churches throughout Wales Horeb was open on a recent Saturday so that people could, if they wished, come in and sit quietly, or pray or chat or have a coffee. Quite a few people came, though these were almost all those we already knew well, But we had done it, and it gave us ideas.
The Elders talked about it and agreed that we should try having the church open on Wednesday mornings when there are always members on the premises for the food coop. Some quiet music will play, and a prayer table will be available where prayer requests can be written and a candle lit if wanted. Coffee will be there, and possibly the offer of someone to talk to if that is what is wanted.
We do not expect a rush! These things take time to get known. But if we want the church to be there for the village it has to be open when people want to come, not just for an hour or so when there is a formal service on Sunday morning. We wait with interest to see what happens.
