Young people take the lead Print E-mail

injured-boyEvery third Sunday the High School group of young people meet separately from the younger children. Until now Liz Pritchard led this group, and her leadership was really appreciated. She now feels it is time to relinquish that role, and Maddy Whyler has taken on leadership of the group.

When they met in January the appalling earthquake in Haiti had just happened and they talked about it. Realising the massive amounts of aid which would be needed they decided to do their bit, and each decided on a different way of raising some money for the next month.

Elen vowed that for a month she would give some of her money: 1p on day one, increasing by 1p each day. Rhian, who doesn't like getting up, is going to give 1p for every minute she sleeps after the alarm. Bertie promised 20p for each hour he uses his play station, and Maddy is giving 50p each day instead of having coffee at school.

That's practical action! So what are the rest of us doing to help the devastated people of Haiti?
