Fun at Children's Assembly Print E-mail
Friday, 30 July 2010 20:11

childrenlogo_jpegJames and Thomas Salsbury represented Wales at the URC's Children's Assembly in Loughborough at the beginning of July.  Here's what they thought of it!

On Friday July 2nd we travelled to Loughborough (via Newtown as James had a school hockey tournament). We had been invited to represent the Wales synod to attend Children's Assembly. When we arrived it was time for tea. It was a long walk as Loughborough University is massive! After that we talked about Vision 2020 and what we think the Church will be like in 10 years time - also what we want the Church to be like in 10 years time.

Kitchen Finally Finished Print E-mail
Friday, 02 July 2010 22:56
kitchenIt seems to have been a long time coming, but the kitchen is finally finished and in use. Together with the improvements in the entrance vestibule, the corridor and the toilets it means we now have premises to be proud of. The kitchen fitting work was done by Shaun from Celtic Connect. The electrical work by Ian, and the tiling by David Brealey. The floor coverings were put down by Ben, Barry and Brian from Prestige Carpets. And a huge thank you for all the building work, new doors and windows and roller shutter hatch, done by Nef and Russell Roberts.

The boiling water heater, capable of producing endless hot drinks, has been especially praised. Everyone should make themselves familiar with the instructions for using it and the dishwasher. There are new practices regarding tea towels and waste. The final cost is about £24,500, the majority of which has been received from grants. Now we must learn to use our facilities really well for the benefit of church and community.

80 year old wins rosette Print E-mail
Thursday, 29 April 2010 12:25

petshowIn this case the 80 year old was a tortoise and the contest was one of the classes in Horeb's very successful Pet Show on 27th March.  Success was somewhat of a surprise to those who organised the event because on the previous day they were certain of only half-a-dozen entries altogether.
